How can We Help

Mallet Finger

Mallet Finger is an injury to the tendon that helps straighten the end of your finger joint. This tendon helps to transmit forces from muscle to joint at the end of your finger when you straighten it for example during pointing. The tendon can be disrupted when a force hits the tip of the finger, bending it suddenly, this can occur for example tucking bed sheet under the mattress.

Mallet finger can be treated with a splint placed at the end of your finger for at least 6 weeks followed by specific graded exercise. However, open injury, associated fracture or chronic deformity may require a direct repair by a hand surgeon.
