The physical agents here refers to superficial heating agents, cryotherapy, ultrasound, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS).  These are commonly used in rehabilitation to facilitate tissue healing, modulate pain, control swelling, resolve disuse muscle atrophy (wasting or loss of muscle tissue), and increase joint range of motion (ROM).
